Tribal Government Goals and Objectives

Tribal Council Office

Exercise tribal sovereignty and self-determination in the management of the Tribes’ natural and cultural resources by adopting and implementing a long-range comprehensive plan.

Tribal Government Objectives

  • Complete supporting plans consistent with the Comprehensive IRMP .

  • Establish a Tribal Judiciary.

  • Adopt Ordinances for:

    • Fish and wildlife management

    • Commerce

    • Taxation

    • Zoning

    • Wellhead protection

    • Domestic violence

    • Firearms

    • Probate

  • Expand law enforcement capability to address natural resource protection needs.

  • Expand tribal government capabilities to include departments for:

    • Planning

    • Commerce

    • Cultural Preservation

    • Social Services

    • Education

  • Establish an enterprise corporation(s) to pursue economic development.

  • Establish a non-profit financial corporation to promote tribal entrepreneurship.

  • Provide information on tribal government activities and programs via the Tribes’ website, newspaper and community meetings.

  • Establish a Tribal Resource Library.
