Cultural Goals and Objectives

Protect and preserve the traditional cultural resources, values and practices of the Round Valley Indian Tribes. 

Cultural Resource Objectives

  • Establish a Cultural Preservation Department.

  • Apply for Historic Preservation Fund grants available through the National Park Service.

  • Develop and implement a long-range Cultural Resource Preservation Plan.

  • Develop the capabilities to apply for status as a Tribal Historic Preservation Office.

  • Provide cultural resource impact assessment for projects on tribal lands.

  • Maintain and expand the Tribes’ cultural resource database.

  • Protect sensitive cultural sites.

  • Assert right-of-way access to landlocked lands and along traditional trails.

  • Designate land for recreation and cultural activities such as swimming, hiking, acorn gathering, plant and basket material gathering and berry picking.

  • Develop a language preservation program via grant funding programs.

  • Promote an understanding of the relationship between tribal culture and environmental health.

  • Promote cultural activities.

  • Promote sustainable hunting and fishing practices.

  • Establish a Tribal Cultural Center and Museum.
