Goals and Objectives

Provide sufficient police and fire protection to ensure a safe and peaceful community. Protect children, elders and women from violence. Expand health care capabilities for a growing population. Ensure quality education programs to empower tribal members with skills and knowledge to improve their lives and to provide future leaders for the tribal community.

Community Services & Facilities Objectives

• Public Safety

  • Expand the Tribal Police to provide police protection and game warden coverage for the reservation.

  • Prepare and adopt a firearms ordinance.

  • Incorporate adequate storage and pressure in the water system to provide for fire hydrants.

  • Develop a Tribal Fire Department.

• Social Services

  • Adopt a Domestic Violence Ordinance.

  • Establish a Domestic Violence Response Team.

  • Expand domestic violence prevention and education programs.

  • Establish a children’s group home.

  • Establish an assisted living facility.

• Health Care

  • Expand the Round Valley Indian Health Care Clinic and retire the deteriorated administrative building.

  • Develop a public transportation capability through an updated Transportation Plan.

  • Assess the possible link between cancer incidents and environmental contamination.

• Education

  • Establish a tribal Department of Education.

  • Ensure tribal representation on the RVUSD School Board.

  • Maintain a Memorandum of Understanding between the RVUSD and the Tribal Police to address truancy, family violence and drug and alcohol problems.

  • Promote family support for school attendance and academic achievement.

  • Ensure education for environmental protection, cultural preservation, and leadership skills.

• Community Facilities

  • Identify potential funding sources for community facilities construction and maintenance.

  • Assess constructing a new recreation center in partnership with the RVUSD.

  • Construct a community center and an assisted living facility via the RVIHA NAHASDA program.

  • Assess the feasibility of constructing and operating a children’s group home.
