Goals and Objectives

Provide sufficient police and fire protection to ensure a safe and peaceful community. Protect children, elders and women from violence. Expand health care capabilities for a growing population. Ensure quality education programs to empower tribal members with skills and knowledge to improve their lives and to provide future leaders for the tribal community.
Community Services & Facilities Objectives
Public Safety
Expand the Tribal Police to provide police protection and game warden coverage for the reservation.
Prepare and adopt a firearms ordinance.
Incorporate adequate storage and pressure in the water system to provide for fire hydrants.
Develop a Tribal Fire Department.
Social Services
Adopt a Domestic Violence Ordinance.
Establish a Domestic Violence Response Team.
Expand domestic violence prevention and education programs.
Establish a children’s group home.
Establish an assisted living facility.
Health Care
Expand the Round Valley Indian Health Care Clinic and retire the deteriorated administrative building.
Develop a public transportation capability through an updated Transportation Plan.
Assess the possible link between cancer incidents and environmental contamination.
Education
Establish a tribal Department of Education.
Ensure tribal representation on the RVUSD School Board.
Maintain a Memorandum of Understanding between the RVUSD and the Tribal Police to address truancy, family violence and drug and alcohol problems.
Promote family support for school attendance and academic achievement.
Ensure education for environmental protection, cultural preservation, and leadership skills.
Community Facilities
Identify potential funding sources for community facilities construction and maintenance.
Assess constructing a new recreation center in partnership with the RVUSD.
Construct a community center and an assisted living facility via the RVIHA NAHASDA program.
Assess the feasibility of constructing and operating a children’s group home.
